A business development manager from Forest Hill is one of eight fighters who have been selected to compete in the final of a mixed martial arts talent search this weekend, after which two champions will be crowned.
Sami Mahjouri, 27, and the other MMA TV Find A Star finalists will compete in a gruelling session at the RDX Cagefit Gym in Watford this Sunday, having survived three boot camps and a 10 week training programme.
A panel comprising UAE Warriors heavyweight champion Chi Lewis-Parry, KSW fighter Jason “The Assassin” Radcliffe, Oktagon MMA’s Alex Lahore, Prim3’s Matt Carroll and MMA TV founder Siju Roseje will decide which two fighters have what it takes to succeed in the brutal sporting arena.
The winners of the Find A Star contest will receive a multi-fight contract with promoters Prim3, star in a Prim3 fly-on-the-wall documentary series building up to their bouts, a long-term contract with Mogul Management, and a one year sponsorship deal with RDX Sports.
MMA TV founder and Find A Star judge Siju Roseje commented: “It’s been a hard process for these talented fighters to make it to the final and they’ve got one more chance to impress us so they’d better grab this rare opportunity with both hands. We’re looking for well-rounded fighters with big personalities who can deliver in the cage and, judging by what we’ve seen so far, the fight to the top will be fierce.”
The finalists include a care worker from Walsall, a horse groom from Huntingdon, a salesman from Bristol and an electrician from Plymouth. Throughout the contest, all have been showing off their expertise in Brazilian jiu jitsu, boxing, Muay Thai, kick boxing, cardio and strength & conditioning.
Mahjouri said: “This competition is all I’ve been thinking about for months, so it feels incredible to have reached the last weekend. The other finalists are very skilled across all disciplines, it’s going to be tight but I’m confident I can deliver a knockout performance on the day and come out on top.”
