Net World Sports has been named as the fastest growing business in North Wales and is one of four firms from the region that have made the Wales Fast Growth 50 list.
The global e-commerce sports equipment business had a turnover of £44 million in 2020, having grown by 121% since 2018 – putting it on the list of the fifty fastest growing firms in Wales.
It plans further expansion with work to start on a new headquarters in Wrexham.
Alex Loven, founder and CEO of Net World Sports on Wrexham industrial estate, said: “It’s fantastic for us to be recognised as the fastest growing company in North Wales.
“It’s testament to the hard work of our staff who have helped the business reach new levels over the past couple of years. The growth also wouldn’t be possible without our customers around the world so a big thank you to everyone who has purchased our products.
“These are hugely exciting times for us as we’ve recently announced the build of our new £25m warehouse and office which will be located just a mile or so away from our current base on Wrexham Industrial Estate.
“The new site which will be completed next year will accelerate our growth further so we can’t wait to see where the next couple of years takes us.”
Professor Dylan Jones-Evans, the founder of the Wales Fast Growth 50 and Daily Post columnist, was delighted that the list has shown that Welsh entrepreneurs have businesses that are as good, if not better, than those found in the other nations and regions of the UK.
He said: “Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s Wales Fast Growth 50 firms generated an additional £336 million in turnover during the period 2018-2020 at an average growth rate of 135 per cent and created 2,000 new jobs in just two years, doubling their workforce and demonstrating their continuing importance across the Welsh economy.
“The vision of the founders of the fifty firms and the hard work of their talented teams has enabled these businesses to go the extra mile in the face of unprecedented market conditions with large parts of the economy shut down, consumer confidence plunging to record lows and normal trading practices having all but disappeared.”
